North Marion School District - Aurora, Oregon

 

Work Schedule:  8 hours per day, 5 days per week

Work Calendar:  12 months per year (~260 days)

Work Location:  On Site, North Marion School District, Aurora, Oregon

Position Type:  Permanent, FLSA Exempt

Salary Range:  $75,307-$92,035.  Placement depending on experience

 

 

North Marion School District is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll & HR Specialist to support district operations by ensuring accurate payroll processing, effective administration of employee benefits, and human resources support. This role is a vital part of our finance team, working collaboratively with district leadership and staff to ensure our employees receive accurate, timely, and quality compensation and benefit services.

 

The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-service oriented, displays a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance, while supporting staff and vendor relationships through responsive and professional service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process full cycle, in-house district payroll accurately and on schedule in compliance with federal, state, and district requirements.
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Manage employee leave in compliance with bargaining agreements and legal requirements
  • Support onboarding of new employees by coordinating payroll setup, benefits enrollment, and required documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll, benefit, and human resources records.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, leave, and benefits with professionalism and customer-focused service.
  • Prepare required reports, reconciliations, and filings related to payroll, benefits, and retirement systems.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with applicable laws, contracts, and district policies.

 

Qualifications

  • Strongly Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish
  • Strongly Preferred: 2 years of in-house full cycle payroll experience.
  • College coursework or experience in payroll, accounting, or human resources preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, benefit administration, leave management, and additional personnel functions.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and a commitment to professional, customer-focused service.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality while working collaboratively with diverse staff and stakeholders.
