Travels between Crestwood, Lakewood and NLR6 Academy of Agriculture and Vetinary Sciences

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Work Schedule:

  • 190-day contract
  • Monday through Friday
  • Daily hours as determined by the Building Principal

Position Summary

Provides instruction to elementary students in accordance with Arkansas state licensure and certification requirements. Instructional assignments are determined by the Building Principal. Candidates must hold ESL certification.


Essential Functions

Classroom Management & Environment

  • Establish and enforce rules for student behavior and classroom procedures.
  • Maintain a structured, orderly, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management aligned with district policies and building procedures.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain a minimum yearly attendance rate of 95% to support student learning.
  • Follow all procedures regarding attendance and punctuality; keep the Principal informed as required.
  • Adhere to the Arkansas Educators’ Code of Ethics and all district policies.

Instruction & Planning

  • Develop and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Prepare lesson materials and classroom setups for daily instruction.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse student needs and interests.
  • Use research-based instructional practices to deliver a balanced program of instruction.
  • Prepare and maintain written lesson plans aligned with curriculum maps and Arkansas State Frameworks.
  • Integrate technology effectively into instruction.

Student Assessment & Records

  • Maintain accurate, complete student records in compliance with laws and district policies.
  • Assign and grade assignments promptly.
  • Communicate student progress through required platforms (e.g., Edline or district systems).
  • Administer standardized assessments and interpret results to identify student strengths and needs.
  • Develop, implement, and update Academic Improvement Plans.

Student Support & Guidance

  • Guide and counsel students based on academic and developmental needs.
  • Assist with development and implementation of IEPs and 504 Plans.
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA and ADA regulations.
  • Monitor student use of equipment and materials to promote safety and prevent damage.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Maintain cooperative relationships with staff members.
  • Confer regularly with parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
  • Participate in professional meetings, conferences, and training workshops.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development, evaluation, and program improvement.

Operational Duties

  • Prepare reports on students and classroom activities as required.
  • Manage classroom materials, including selection, ordering, storage, and inventory.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as assigned.
  • Perform supervisory duties in accordance with state regulations.

Compliance Requirements

  • Maintain a valid Arkansas teaching license with appropriate ESL certification.
  • Meet Highly Qualified Teacher requirements (if applicable).
  • Follow all North Little Rock School District Board policies.
  • Stay informed of policies available on the NLRSD website (www.nlrsd.org).

Other Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Building Principal.

Education

Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with a valid Arkansas Teacher's License with the appropriate certification, in addition to being a Highly Qualified Teacher meeting Arkansas Department of Education standards. ESL CERTIFIED

Computer Skills

Basic technology proficiency, with the ability to learn and implement district teacher technology to include grade            reporting and parental communication technology (Grade Quick, Ed Line Programs)

 

Certificates & Licenses

Valid Arkansas Teacher's License with the appropriate certification, in addition to being a Highly Qualified Teacher in accordance with Arkansas Department of Education requirements. ESL Certified
