Job Purpose
The development associate is a 30 hour per week, Monday - Thursday position that will support the organization’s fundraising and donor stewardship efforts by accurately processing donations, maintaining donor records, and ensuring timely acknowledgment of gifts. The position plays a key role in sustaining donor relationships, promoting transparency, and helping the organization meet its funding goals. This position also is responsible for NKC’s grant writing coordination which requires writing small grants as necessary.

The position plays a key role in sustaining donor relationships, promoting transparency, and helping the organization meet its funding goals. This position also is responsible for NKC’s grant writing coordination which requires writing small grants as necessary.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain uptodate and accurate donor records, including contact information and giving history
- Assist with donor stewardship efforts, such as thankyou calls, cards, and event invitations
- Support the development team with preparation for campaigns, mailings, and fundraising events
- Track and reconcile donations with the finance team as needed
- Help manage inventory and recordkeeping for inkind donations
- Provide general administrative support to the development team as requested
- Provide input for donor communications and campaigns (e.g., yearend appeals, newsletters, impact reports)
- Be the point person for grant tracking, writing grants when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Donor Engagement
- Bachelor’s degree or 2 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising.
- Proficiency in donor CRM and fundraising software (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce, QGiv, or equivalent)
- Passion for the mission and vision of NKC
- Have high energy for periodic seasons of highvolume work (yearend giving, Giving Tuesday, fundraisers, special campaigns)
- Occasional standing or walking, especially during events or when handling mail
- Reaching, bending, or lifting light items (typically under 25 pounds), such as: donation materials, mail bins, office supplies, event setup items (signs, tablecloths, boxes)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products & Outlook email system
- Ability to form and establish positive partnerships in the community
- Selfstarter and possess a high degree of initiative.
- Must work well in a team environment.
