Responsibilities
- Safely operate various types of vehicles including transit buses or paratransit vans in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
- Follow designated routes accurately while adhering to schedules and responding quickly to traffic changes or unexpected delays.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including providing wheelchair assistance and supporting individuals with mobility challenges.
- Ensure passenger safety by enforcing behavior management policies and maintaining order onboard.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety issues, including checking vehicle codes and emergency stop procedures.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, colleagues, and dispatchers.
- Maintain accurate safety checks and incident reports as required by company policies and local laws.
- Uphold high standards of customer service by creating a welcoming environment for all riders.
Qualifications
- CDL preferred but not required to apply. We will help you obtain it if needed.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and state/local commercial driving laws.
- Ability to respond effectively during emergencies.
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to perform bending and twisting to secure wheelchairs.
- Excellent writing skills for documentation purposes; ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
