About the Role

The OR Instrument Technician is responsible for instrument preparation, sterilization processes and supplies handling in the OR.


What You’ll Do

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organization, structure, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of NICLC
  • Adherence to the utmost infection prevention standards in compliance with CDC, AORN, and APIC recommendations
  • Principles of aseptic and sterile technique
  • Knows fundamentals of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and sterilization procedures
  • Basic knowledge of surgical procedures and how to use and take care of equipment
  • Medications relevant to eye surgery and anesthesia
  • Awareness of environmental controls
  • Knowledge of nursing skills in patient care
  • Ability to establish effective communications with doctors, patients, and staff
  • Knowledge of job descriptions of those personnel with whom he/she shares patient care
  • Able to analyze own performance and seek guidance from others
  • Demonstrates ability to obtain information on current trends and developments in nursing, outpatient surgery, and ophthalmology care
  • Knowledge of disaster and emergency policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of effective interpersonal relationships

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in ophthalmology or a medical office preferred
  • Graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing or technical certification through JCAHPO
  • Physically able to perform job requirements, i.e., patient transport, lift to 50 lbs., and able to stand on feet for long periods of time
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Certification, or ability to complete within 12 months of hire.

  • Flexibility to work across multiple locations and clinical teams
  • Training provided for candidates with a strong interest in patient care
