About the Role
The OR Instrument Technician is responsible for instrument preparation, sterilization processes and supplies handling in the OR.
What You’ll Do
- Demonstrates knowledge of the organization, structure, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of NICLC
- Adherence to the utmost infection prevention standards in compliance with CDC, AORN, and APIC recommendations
- Principles of aseptic and sterile technique
- Knows fundamentals of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and sterilization procedures
- Basic knowledge of surgical procedures and how to use and take care of equipment
- Medications relevant to eye surgery and anesthesia
- Awareness of environmental controls
- Knowledge of nursing skills in patient care
- Ability to establish effective communications with doctors, patients, and staff
- Knowledge of job descriptions of those personnel with whom he/she shares patient care
- Able to analyze own performance and seek guidance from others
- Demonstrates ability to obtain information on current trends and developments in nursing, outpatient surgery, and ophthalmology care
- Knowledge of disaster and emergency policies and procedures
- Knowledge of effective interpersonal relationships
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in ophthalmology or a medical office preferred
- Graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing or technical certification through JCAHPO
- Physically able to perform job requirements, i.e., patient transport, lift to 50 lbs., and able to stand on feet for long periods of time
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Certification, or ability to complete within 12 months of hire.
