What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physics & Chemistry Teacher / Head Girls Basketball and/or Head Softball Coach position at North Hopkins Secondary?
Primary Purpose: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in Physics and Chemistry designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. In addition, lead and manage the girls’ athletic program (basketball and/or softball) with a focus on skill development, teamwork, and character.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
? Valid Texas teaching certification in Physics and/or Chemistry issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA)
? Coaching experience preferred (basketball and/or softball)
? Must possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or be willing to obtain one within the first year of employment
Responsibilities: Instructional Duties:
? Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district curriculum and TEKS for Physics and Chemistry
?Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
? Establish and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning
? Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback
? Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
? Incorporate technology and hands-on learning experiences to enhance instruction Classroom Management:
? Establish clear expectations for behavior and maintain discipline in accordance with district policies ? Build positive relationships with students to support academic and social-emotional growth
? Create a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment
Coaching Duties:
? Serve as Head Girls Basketball Coach and/or Head Softball Coach
? Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the athletic program
? Develop student-athletes’ skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork
? Coordinate practices, games, travel, and equipment
? Ensure compliance with district, UIL, and state regulations
? Promote academic success and character development among student-athletes Professional Responsibilities:
? Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and professional learning communities
? Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
? Support campus and district initiatives
? Uphold district standards of professionalism and ethics
Working Conditions:
? Maintain emotional control under stress
? Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
? Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends for athletic events
