POSITION SUMMARY: The Football Safeties Coach will be responsible for the instruction, development, and performance of the safeties on the North Greenville University football team. This position includes teaching position specific techniques, contributing to the defensive game plan, and supporting the mission of the University by developing student-athletes within a Christ-centered environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coach and develop the safeties with an emphasis on fundamentals and technique, situational awareness, and leadership qualities.
- Assist in designing and implementing the overall defensive game plan, with planning/design emphasis on passing game defense/coordination, in collaboration with the Defensive Coordinator and defensive staff.
- Conduct position-specific drills and film study sessions to improve player performance.
- Evaluate and recruit student-athletes who align with the Universitys spiritual and athletic mission.
- Monitor the academic performance and well-being of student-athletes to promote academic success and personal growth.
- Foster a Christ-centered team culture that emphasizes discipline, accountability, and servant leadership.
- Analyze film to provide detailed feedback and develop improvement plans for safeties (run and pass defense).
- Participate in team-related activities, including community service, fundraising events, and team-building functions.
- Ensure adherence to NCAA, conference, and University rules and guidelines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively with co-workers, players, and staff.
- Frequently convey detailed or important coaching instructions and ideas accurately, clearly, and quickly.
- Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds of force regularly.
- Capacity to demonstrate and instruct various football techniques, including agility and conditioning drills.
- Maintain the physical fitness required to participate in and oversee rigorous practices and games.
- Strong visual and auditory abilities to analyze performances and provide immediate feedback.
- Willingness and ability to travel and endure long hours during games, practices, and recruiting activities.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The Safeties Coach is required to work according to athletic game schedules, practices, and recruiting events. This position does not operate on a traditional work schedule.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
This position is part-time. The Safeties Coach will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties as requested by the Defensive Coordinator, Head Coach or Athletic Director.
TRAVEL:
Travel is required for away games, recruiting events, and team activities.
- Bachelors degree required;
- Minimum of three years of coaching experience, preferably with a focus on defensive backs or safeties, professional and college experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of defensive schemes and secondary play.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop student-athletes on and off the field.
- Supports NGUs mission statement and core values, with a commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with a biblical model.
