Job Summary
As our Medical Receptionist, you will be the warm, friendly first point of contact for patients checking in for clinic visits or procedure visits. You will create a supportive, empathetic environment while handling administrative tasks efficiently to keep the clinic running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and vendors warmly and professionally, in person and on the phone.
- Check in patients for clinic or procedure visits.
- Verify insurance and demographic information, collect co-pays, and process paperwork.
- Schedule and reschedule appointments using our electronic health record system.
- Answer multi-line phone calls, take messages, and provide general information about services.
- Maintain accurate patient records while adhering to HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow throughout the clinic and communicate information and updates effectively.
- Handle basic patient inquiries, concerns, or follow-up communications with empathy and professionalism.
- Assist with daily office tasks including filing, scanning, faxing, and registering patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); college experience preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience as a medical receptionist, front desk coordinator, or similar role in a healthcare setting (pain management, sports medicine, or orthopedics preferred).
- Strong customer service skills with a calm, compassionate demeanor, patients come to us in pain, and empathy and understanding are of the utmost importance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with computers, electronic health records, and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology, insurance verification, and HIPAA compliance.
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented with a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with patients who have chronic pain.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), a strong plus.
