We are currently in search of Elementary School Teachers to help support academic excellence at our growing school. Our ideal candidate is a professional educator with a passion for working with children, and is capable of motivating students to learn in an innovative and encouraging environment. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be willing to adjust classroom methods to fit the students' needs, help students develop a love of learning and work collaboratively in a team environment.

This position will start August 3, 2026.

Position Summary:

The Special Needs Teacher is responsible for providing individualized educational instruction to students with developmental, cognitive, emotional, or physical disabilities. This role requires designing and implementing individualized lesson plans in alignment with the individual state standards, promoting independence, and supporting daily living skills, including toileting, diaper changing, and potty training when developmentally appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Instructional Duties

• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans in alignment with the individual state standards.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the varying needs and abilities of students.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to foster academic, social, emotional, and functional skill development.
• Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families to support holistic student growth.

Classroom & Student Support

• Create and maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
• Provide direct support for activities of daily living (ADLs), including toileting, diaper changing, and hygiene care.
• Implement and monitor potty training programs tailored to individual student readiness and needs.
• Encourage independence and self-care skills while maintaining student dignity and privacy.

Professional Duties

• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and daily care routines.
• Participate in BSP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development activities if the student is in your class AND BCBA and/or parent request attendance.
• Comply with all school, district, and state policies, including health and safety procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Expectations:

• Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction as needed to promote continuous growth.
• Work closely with therapists, paraprofessionals, and other support staff to coordinate services.
• Participate actively in staff meetings, parent conferences, and interdisciplinary team discussions.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with families to foster trust and shared commitment to student success.
• Offer mentorship and guidance to classroom assistants or paraprofessionals assigned to support students.
• Teach and model social skills, self-regulation, and coping strategies to promote emotional well-being.
• Provide a structured, predictable environment that reduces anxiety and supports focus and participation.
• Maintain consistent expectations while demonstrating empathy and patience.
• Create a welcoming, organized, and sensory-friendly classroom that meets students’ physical and emotional needs.
• Ensure the safety and supervision of students at all times, including during transitions and special activities.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, progress, attendance, and communication logs as required by policy.
• Follow all district, state, and federal regulations regarding student privacy, safety, and special education compliance.
• Demonstrate a positive, respectful, and collaborative attitude toward students, families, and colleagues.
• Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Stay informed about current best practices in special education, inclusive teaching, and assistive technology.
• Demonstrate reliability in attendance, punctuality, and task completion.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (Preferably a related field)
• Experience working with children with disabilities in educational or care settings.
• Knowledge of toileting and potty-training strategies for students with developmental delays.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform lifting and physical assistance as needed to support students safely.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to bend, lift, and assist students with mobility and personal care needs.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and engage in physical activity to support and supervise students.
• Ability to respond quickly to ensure student safety.
• Comfort with providing toileting, diaper changing, and hygiene care in accordance with health protocols.

Pay: $32,000.00 - $34,000.00 per year
