Duties
- Review and verify patient information and medical records for accuracy.
- Assign appropriate ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG codes to diagnoses and procedures.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and government payers.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
- Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities and collections.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations and billing practices.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations in all billing processes.
Skills
- Proficiency in medical billing software and coding systems.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, including familiarity with ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG coding, and medical coding practices.
