What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Specialist position at North Dakota State Tax Commissioner?
Summary of Work
Work involves reviewing and editing tax information, correcting or completing information to successfully process tax returns, communicating discrepancies to taxpayers and preparers, and responding to questions related to correspondence that was sent to taxpayers.
- Examine tax returns suspended in error in the integrated tax system based on defined rules and edit checks.
- Analyze and process tax returns and payments received with errors, or without proper documentation.
- Review individual income tax returns which require information verification or are flagged as suspicious for fraud detection purposes.
- Provide customer service to taxpayer inquiries through mail, email, telephone, and walk-in assistance.
- Assist with in-house training and other miscellaneous duties consistent with the degree of difficulty and level of responsibility assigned to this position.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and two years of related work experience. Qualifying work experience would normally include analyzing received information, determining available solutions, and assisting or directing customers in completing necessary steps to resolve issues or satisfy inquiries.
