What are the responsibilities and job description for the Historic Site Grounds and Maintenance Technician position at North Dakota Historical Society?
Summary of Work
Job Duration: May 22, 2026 - September 4, 2026
Weekly work hours up to 16 preferred, hours and duration subject to negotiation.
The grounds maintenance role is responsible for:
- Landscape maintenance, including lawn mowing, tree pruning, and weeding in all areas on site as needed.
- Remove trash from all locations and transport to designated dumpster.
- Perform cleaning duties as assigned, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, floor waxing, vacuuming, restroom and window cleaning, garbage removal, and others as they arise.
- Assist site staff with small maintenance projects and cleaning projects as required.
- Maintain machinery and tools in proper working order.
- Keep inventory of supplies on hand and inform supervisor of needs.
- Perform some painting of structures, both interior and exterior.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have experience with gas?and diesel-powered equipment.
- Must be able to lift/move 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Must be able to operate a lawnmower.
- Must have a current driver's license to be able to operate the site vehicle.
- Ability to work flexible hours and weekends.
- Must be able to communicate with guests and coworkers.
- Must have experience in planning maintenance operations.
