What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Support Specialist position at North Dakota Department of Human Services?
As a Customer Support Specialist for ND DHS Child Support, you are the first point of contact for people with questions about the child support system. Your calm and helpful responses will help reduce callers' frustration and stress as they navigate a complex process.
In a typical week, you’ll field hundreds of questions regarding child support from parents, child support staff, clerks of courts, financial institutions and other agencies. You’ll educate those callers on available self-service tools. You’ll research cases - correcting records and adding data along the way. When not fielding questions, you’ll decipher support judgements, compile and reconcile payment data for assigned cases.
To thrive in this position, you must be a helper at heart, patient and able to read between the lines when talking with others. You should enjoy working with numbers and can explain complex financial concepts to others in a way that they can understand. Most importantly, you should be comfortable working on the phone and changing gears frequently - all in the name of great customer service.
