What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Services Officer position at North County Fire Protection District?
The North County Fire Protection District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Medical Services Officer (MSO). This position supports the development, administration, and quality improvement of the District’s EMS programs.
- Coordinate and monitor EMS programs, policies, and compliance
- Conduct EMS training and continuing education
- Perform EMS quality improvement (CQI) reviews and investigations
- Respond to incidents to evaluate EMS delivery
- Manage EMS reporting, audits, infection control, HIPAA compliance, and controlled substance programs
- Serve as liaison for EMS-related agencies, billing, and public inquiries
- Prepare reports, maintain records, and support program development
- Five (5) years of experience as a PA, RN, MICN, or EMT-Paramedic, including three (3) years of recent related experience
- Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, Emergency Medicine, Nursing, Business, Management, or related field
- Valid California Driver’s License
- Current California licensure/certification as PA, RN, MICN, or EMT-P
- Current ACLS and CPR certifications
- Experience in EMS instruction, CQI, preceptor programs, and ALS systems
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a related field preferred
- 40-hour workweek
- 4/10 schedule available
