What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior High School Assistant Principal position at North Country Junior High School?
The North Country Union Junior High School located in Derby, Vermont seeks an energetic individual with exceptional leadership capacity to serve as Assistant Principal of their school with approximately 250 students; to begin July 1, 2026. Our school mission is to be a community that shares the responsibility for the intellectual and personal development of all learners within an environment of trust, safety, and respect.
Qualifications:
1. Vermont Administrator Certification preferred, or at minimum be a licensed teacher enrolled in a school leadership program working towards certification.
2. Minimum of five (5) years classroom teaching experience and/or administrative experience.
3. In-depth knowledge of laws, regulations and policies governing education; familiarity with curriculum and instructional programs and practices by various grade levels; and demonstrated experience with budgets and supervisory responsibilities are all required.
4. Master’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
5. Strong written, oral, communication and interpersonal skills needed.
6. Self-motivated to function efficiently by prioritizing independently with strong
organizational and problem solving skills.
7. High professional conduct standards and expectations for self, others and school.
Position Goal: To work collaboratively with the Principal with administrative and instructional functions to meet the educational needs of students and carry out the mission and goals of the school.
Salary based on experience. Salary range anticipated to be between $90,000 and $125,000, depending on previous experience. Excellent benefit package provided. This is a year-round contract.
