Statement of Purpose
Responsible for the processing, distribution, and storage of washable linen, garments, and other items. Performs basic laundry tasks, which include washing, ironing, folding, inspection, and fabrication of specialty items.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
Operates tumblers and blanket dryers.
Hangs finished garments on hangers or places on rack or folds and stacks garments and linens.
Marks or otherwise identifies patient and hospital laundry with departmental or individual identification.
Sorts articles into groups according to laundry treatment each will receive.
Segregates worn, stained, or otherwise imperfect articles.
Stores and issues clean linen from clean linen room.
Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work area.
Keeps the daily weigh logs.
Folds various linen items according to established procedures.
Loads soiled linen into washing machines.
Operates washing machines according to type of load.
Monitors the operation of washing machines while in use.
May need to work days, evenings, nights, or weekends as need arises.
Observes the levels of laundry chemicals to insure adequate supply.
Must be physically fit to perform daily tasks required by position.
May be required to operate NCH van* to make delivery of linens to practices and bring back the dirty laundry. Only valid licensed drivers will be able to operate the company van.
Working Conditions
Works daily in a warm climate. Stands all day, pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Protective clothing is worn during parts of the day.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions.
Between three and six months of on-the-job and/or related experience are normally sufficient.
*Must have valid Vermont driver's license and a clean driving record
Pay Information:
$15.91 - $19.52 hourly
Salary : $16 - $20
