Salary: $20.94 - $26.31 Hourly

North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) is seeking an organized, enthusiastic, and customer-focused Recreation Shift Coordinator to help deliver high-quality recreation programs and services to our community. This position plays a key role in coordinating daily operations by assisting with the scheduling, training, and implementation of sports and recreation programs, leading the work of support staff and volunteers, and coordinating activities and facility rentals. ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Sports & Recreation Shift Coordinator, you'll help oversee the daily operations of assigned recreation facilities and programs. You'll coordinate activities and rentals, support recreation staff and volunteers, provide outstanding customer service, and help ensure programs operate safely and efficiently.

KEY DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and implementing sports and recreation programs offered through North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District
  • Coordinate daily activities, facility rentals, and program schedules to ensure efficient operations
  • Allocate staff, volunteers, and other resources to support scheduled programs and events
  • Lead, train, schedule, and provide day-to-day direction to volunteers and support staff
  • Monitor program operations to ensure a safe, welcoming, and positive experience for participants
  • Utilize recreation software to manage program registrations, schedules, facility reservations, and reports
  • Maintain program records, spreadsheets, databases, and other operational reports
  • Coordinate and present recreation safety training for volunteers and support staff
  • Provide outstanding customer service by assisting participants, answering questions, and resolving customer concerns in a professional manner
  • Serve as a positive representative of North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District and help foster an inclusive environment for participants of all ages and abilities

Required Minimum Qualifications/Transferrable Skills: *

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must pass a criminal history check, which may include national or state fingerprint records check
  • Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Incumbents must possess a valid driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.

Post-Employment Requirements:

  • Completion of bloodborne pathogen training within six months
  • Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid (American Red Cross) within six months of hire

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Interview Dates: Interviews are tentatively scheduled for September 9 and 11, 2026. Candidates selected to interview will receive additional information regarding the interview process and scheduling.

TYPICAL TASKS

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and implementing sports and recreation programs offered through North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District.

KEY COMPETENCIES

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of organized community recreation principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of scheduling recreation programs, activities, and facility rentals.
  • Knowledge of applicable recreation and sports safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, and direct volunteers and part-time staff.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with participants, volunteers, staff, and community members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer software applications used for scheduling, registration, spreadsheets, and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple programs and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and schedules.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, community partners, and the public.

WORK SCHEDULE

NCPRD operates 7 days per week, which requires staffing of Sports and Recreation Program Shift Coordinators, as assigned, for all shifts. Positions may be assigned to workday or evening shifts, including weekends and holidays

Preferred availability is Tuesday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Work schedules may vary based on program, facility, rental, and event needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, and perform other physical activities associated with recreation programming and facility operations.

BENEFITS INFORMATION

A temporary status or seasonal status position receives EAP benefits only. Employees will accrue one (1) hour of sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked, with a maximum accrual of eighty (80) hours per year.

North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District (NCPRD) is a service district of Clackamas County dedicated to providing exceptional parks and recreation programs, facilities, and services. Voters approved the formation of the District in 1990 because they saw the need for greater parks and recreation services in the north end of the county. The District – which serves more than 105,000 residents in a 27-square mile area – includes the city of Milwaukie and a large area of unincorporated Clackamas County.

NCPRD offers 32 parks, many acres of natural areas and sensitive habitat, and a network of trails including the 6-mile Trolley Trail. Additionally, NCPRD offers a wide range of programs, services, and events, and operates several recreational facilities such as the North Clackamas Aquatic Park, Milwaukie Center, and the Concord Property.
