Job Overview
The Family Support Provider (FSP) is to provide support and develop a support system for parents and caregivers of children up to the age of 25 with serious emotional disorders. All FSP activities are directed and authorized by the child’s Master Treatment Plan. The FSP will partner with the Community Support Specialist to support the family as they work to reach their identified goals.
Responsibilities
1. The full-time FSP will provide 22 face-to-face direct services activities weekly, individually or in a group setting.
2. Complete and sign documentation or related paperwork contemporaneously with service provision (within five (5) business days) and in accordance with agency and certification standards.
3. Provide information and support to the parent/caregiver so they have a better understanding of their child/youth’s needs and explore options to be considered as part of their treatment. Provide helpful materials such as videos, books, articles or internet address.
4. Assist the parent/caregiver in understanding and preparing for the planning process and the importance of their voice in the development and implementation of the Master Treatment plan.
5. Provide support to empower the parents/caregivers to be a voice for their child/youth and family in the planning meeting.
6. Work with the family to highlight the importance of individualized planning and the strengths-based approach.
7. Assist the family in understanding the roles of the various providers and the importance of the “team” approach.
8. Discuss the benefit of natural supports within their family and community and link family with support groups and other community resources.
9. Introduce methods for problem solving and developing strategies to address issues that need work.
10. Provide support and information to parents/caregivers of Transition Age Youth related to the shift from being the decision maker to being the support to the youth as they become more independent.
11. Connecting families to community resources.
12. Job duties will be assigned according to client needs with the assistance of the Community Support Specialist. The FSP interventions will be reflected in the client’s Master Treatment Plan.
13. Meet at least weekly with supervisor.
14. Attend meetings and trainings as required.
15. Provide services consistent with the agency policies and procedures.
16. Transport clients as needed.
17. Maintain client confidentiality.
18. Perform related work as requested to carry out the purposes, goals and objectives of the agency.
Experience
Meets the requirements specified in the Division of Comprehensive Psychiatric Services Family Support model which includes:
· Successfully completed the Family Support Provider training as approved and provided by the DMH, Division of Behavioral Health https://www.mofamilysupport.org/)
· Have a high school diploma or GED and be age 18 years or older
· Have a valid Missouri driver’s license. Automobile and required liability insurance.
· Family member with a child who has been or currently has a behavioral or emotional disorder
· Meet appropriate background checks from DSS, DMH and law enforcement agencies
· Missouri resident for at least two years
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.74 - $18.00 per hour
