GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Program Developer, Welding Technology is responsible for, leads, and develops two Welding Technology Certificate Programs within deadlines established. Champions them throughout the North Central Michigan College (NCMC) community. Also, leads the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) approval process for the newly created NCMC Welding program. Serves as a technical expert to identify laboratory processes and supporting equipment necessary to deliver Program Learning Outcomes encompassing both the Level 1 and Level 2 Welding Certificate Programs.
DUTIES:
- Under the leadership of the Director of Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, and Trades, develop two new Welding Technology Certificate Programs and champion them through North Central Michigan College (NCMC) and Higher Learning Commission (HLC) approval processes. This will include completion of the NCMC Program Proposal Template to support the following:
- Welding Technology Level 1 Certificate
- Welding Technology Level 2 Certificate
- Serve as a technical expert to identify laboratory processes and supporting equipment necessary to deliver Program Learning Outcomes
- For each Certificate Program provides:
- Welding program description
- Program Learning Outcomes (PLO's) and mapping from PLO's to Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILO's)
- Program Requirements (Courses, Credit Hours, and Contact Hours) and Course Sequence
- For each new course in the Welding Certificate curricula develops:
- Master Course Syllabus (including Course Description, Course Learning Outcomes, Pre-Requisites, and Sequence of Topics Covered)
- Mapping from Course Learning Outcomes to Program Learning Outcomes to Institutional Learning Outcomes
- Program Proposal encompassing both the Level 1 and 2 Certificate Programs
- Participates in Outcomes Assessment Activities
- May be assigned additional duties as time and schedule allow, such as delivery of occasional non-credit training classes in Welding, to advance Workforce & Community Education goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or higher in Welding Technology or related field
- Significant (5 years) of industrial welding experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- AWS Certified Welding Engineer (or equivalent) · AWS Certified Welding Educator (CWE) (or equivalent) · AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) (or equivalent)
- BS or higher in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology
- Teaching experience at the community college level or higher, or in industry training
- Familiarity and/or experience with educational accreditation
