The Laundry Worker Opportunity:
The Laundry Worker ensures a continuous supply of clean, sanitary linens for residents, clients, and staff across the organization. This position is responsible for collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, ironing, and distributing linens according to established infection control, safety, and quality standards. This role requires working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Compensation And Benefits
- The starting pay range for his position is $15.18 - $16.53 based on experience.
- The hours for this position are 6:30am – 3:00pm, and every other Saturday.

- As a full-time employee of NCHC, you are eligible for the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). The WRS is a hybrid defined benefit plan. It contains elements of both a 401(k) or defined contribution plan and a defined benefit plan. Participating staff contribute 7.2% and NCHC will match this at 100% each pay period!
Required:
- At least 18 years of age or older
- More than 6 months of relevant experience
- Valid WI driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- High School diploma or equivalent
- More than 1 year of relevant experience in a healthcare facility
What a Laundry Worker Does At NCHC
- Collect soiled linens from units and transport them to the laundry facility.
- Deliver clean linens to assigned areas and replenish unit inventories.
- Drive box truck to transport linens as needed.
- Sort soiled linens by type and classification for laundering.
- Weigh and prepare linens for washing cycles.
- Load and unload washers and dryers.
- Monitor chemical supplies and maintain proper wash formulas and pH balance.
- Fold, iron, bag, hang, and stack clean linens.
- Prepare and stock clean linen carts for daily deliveries.
- Take inventory on units to determine next-day needs.
- Complete linen weight/order forms accurately.
- Follow department safety and infection control procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Regular lifting of 25–50 lbs.
- Exposure to heat, humidity, noise >85 dB, hazardous chemicals, bodily fluids, and moving machinery.
- Position requires working in settings with potential exposure to communicable illnesses and emotionally distressed individuals.
- Significant physical stamina and ability to work in hot laundry environments.
