What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Administrator position at North Carolina Office of the State Auditor?
The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a Systems Administrator to administer OSA virtual servers and storage infrastructure, implement security policies, and identify any potential system threats.
As part of our team, you will get to:
- Upgrade virtual-server, hosting, and storage infrastructure
- Implement security and compliance measures within the on-premise server and cloud environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to authentication and authorization within Microsoft 365 services, on-premises servers and applications
- Implement security controls to protect user identities and digital assets
- Configure and manage secure file sharing solutions to facilitate external collaboration
- Mitigate potential threats and system vulnerabilities
- Monitor system performance, security incidents, and user activities across platforms
- Assist with maintaining Microsoft 365 applications, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Power Platform and Teams
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
- Demonstrated experience administering, provisioning, and upgrading virtual-hosting, physical server hardware, and storage infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience and a thorough understanding of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Power Platform, Entra, and Teams
- Experience designing, building, and administering virtual-hosting and storage infrastructure on-premises and/or in the cloud (Nutanix, VMWare, AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for resolving complex on-premise and cloud services, server, and storage related issues
- Proficient in implementing and monitoring authentication and access control policies
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressive experience in systems software programming
OR
An associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive experience in systems software programming
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience
