Position Summary:
The Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation of both internal and external communication strategies. The Manager’s duties include managing external communication channels like social media platforms, school website and media relations, writing copy for school newsletters or memos and adhering to the school’s brand by publishing content and marketing materials.
The Communications Manager is also responsible for standardizing and improving the communication efforts of the school. The Communications Manager will have a strong set of written, verbal and digital communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities. This person should be comfortable working on and delivering messages through a variety of platforms.
Communications Responsibilities
- Collaborate with administrative and academic teams to identify the public voice of our brand
- Create style guidelines and brand voice outlines for all public relations, marketing, and advertising
- Consult with the senior leadership team to develop effective communication procedures and policies for various situations and crises
- Draft press releases following organizational news
- Develop and implement effective communication strategies that build customer loyalty programs, brand awareness, and customer satisfaction.
- Write letters, interdepartmental memos and other email correspondence
- Communicate with media outlets and journalists and create press kits
- Develop materials to educate staff on communication practices
- Perform communications research and monitor the progress of various communications strategies
- Develop strategies that engage the community (school leadership, parents, faculty, advisory boards, students, alumni, etc.) in effectively communicating the school’s message to help achieve enrollment and retention goals
Ideal Candidate:
- Professional marketing/communications background, preferably 3-5 years relevant experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Proficiency with Google Analytics, and other programs to measure results
- Website management experience
- Understanding and appreciation of marketing best practices in today’s world
- Expertise with Social & Digital Media, Advertising/Underwriting, SEO, and PR
- Excellent communication skills
- He/she will possess sound creative judgment and deliver effective communications programs that will increase the quality of schools’ messaging and communications while driving awareness, relevance, and competitive differentiation.
