What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Cook position at North Bend School District 13?
- High school diploma or equivalent as required by OAR 581-37-030, Oregon Department of Education.
- Willingness to upgrade skills and training in all phases of school food service.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Preferred one year of experience in school food service.
- One year experience in quantity food preparation.
- Enthusiasm toward students.
- The ability to work successfully and closely with students and cooks.
- Follow verbal and/or written directions and instructions.
- Have strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to obtain a Food Handlers card.
- Assist with the preparation of all food menu items in the amounts as specified by the daily production schedule.
- Prepare and serve food.
- Responsible for cleaning kitchen area, equipment and dishes.
- Make required reports on quantities of supplies used in daily production and order supplies from the manager as needed.
- Report trouble and/or equipment breakdown to kitchen manager.
- Perform any other work or fill in any position of cafeteria operation as requested by manager.
- Filling in as needed when more hours are required.
- Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem to be appropriate to the Board or Administration
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Food Handler's Certificate (OAR 333.175.000)
- Pre-employment drug screening required (includes THC screening)
- Possess a valid First Aid card, if required
- Possess a valid Oregon Driver's License, if required
- Blood borne Pathogens Training/Hepatitis B Shot Series Training, if required
- SafeSchools Training as required
- Moderate degree of physical stamina and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and prolonged periods of standing.
- Exposure to noise, heat, cold, hot and cold surfaces, sharp and moving equipment.
- Requires coordination and dexterity to prepare foods.
- Ability to move freely around the kitchen and storage areas to perform food preparation and food serving duties.
