Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and implementation of diverse activity programs focused on entertainment, socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical wellness for residents with varying abilities.
- Coordinate special events, outings, and themed activities that encourage participation and community involvement.
- Assist residents with daily activities (Activities of Daily Living - ADLs) such as mobility, dressing, and personal care when needed during activities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity feedback to tailor future programs effectively.
- Collaborate with care staff to identify individual resident preferences, needs related to Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, or memory care.
- Manage schedules for ongoing activities ensuring timely setup and cleanup while maximizing resident engagement.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents during activities, fostering a warm and inclusive environment.
Requirements
- Prior experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia care, memory care strategies, and senior care best practices.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in home & community care environments is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage residents and coordinate with team members.
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs and adapt activities for varying mobility levels or cognitive abilities.
- Proficient with computers, phones, televisions and tablets.
- Demonstrated organizational skills for schedule management and event coordination.
