What are the responsibilities and job description for the North Beach-School Psychologist (Part-Time) position at North Beach School District?
Participates as a member of the IEP team in the assessment and program evaluation for students to enable all students to function to their highest possible level within the educational system. Acts as a liaison with medical and community service providers on behalf of children and their families in the areas of mental health, behavior, social and emotional skills.

- Participate as a member of the IEP team to plan interventions and monitor progress for students struggling with academics and/or behavior/social skills.
- Collaborate with other staff to develop effective, positive techniques for improving student behavior school-wide and targeted interventions for specific students.
- Conduct student observations, functional behavioral assessments, and facilitate behavior intervention plans.
- Provide training or direct support to staff or student when implementing individual student or classroom-based interventions, including practical data collection and analysis systems.
- Participate in activities that promote professional development for district initiative as well as in the specialty field, and use clinical-educational research information to enhance services for students and families.
- Facilitate and/or participate in staff meetings, planning events, department/special education meetings, manifestation determination meetings, FBA/BIP meetings, eligibility, evaluation, and placement meetings.
- Work collaboratively with total district staff in an atmosphere of cooperation and collegiality.
- Provide positive assistance and guidance to students.
- Participate as a team member with responsibility for identification, eligibility, and placement of students with disabilities under IDEA-B or Section 504.
- Produce and maintain student records, including, but not limited to special education reports, sensitive confidential records, behavioral data, assessment results, cumulative records, orders, and inventory, in a timely and orderly fashion.
- Consult with families and community medical and social service agencies in coordinating services and home programs.
- Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession and to the established rules, regulations and laws governing special education programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Washington State ESA Certificate.
- Must be flexible, possess outstanding communication and conceptual skills, a strong professional orientation, maintain appropriate and positive staff, family, and student relationships, and be willing to actively participate in a team environment.
- Demonstrate commitment to fostering a positive attitude with students, self, and others.
- Working knowledge assessments, progress monitoring, multi-tiered interventions, and data-based decision making.
- Working knowledge of a variety of research-based effective instructional and behavior strategies, including an emphasis on skills aimed at assisting students with special needs.
- Expertise in word processing and willingness to learn the Special Education software system (currently IEP Online).
- Strong coursework and background in evaluation, Washington State eligibility for Special Education services, and the laws and regulations governing IDEA-B, 504, and Special Education services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of new technology and an ability to incorporate into job skills.
- Willingness to participate in training as required by job demands.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Washington State Education Staff Associate Certification.
- Valid Washington Licensure for Psychology.
- Prefer training and/or experience in assessment, IEP development and program implementation.
- Expertise in word processing and willingness to learn the Special Education software system (currently IEP Online).
- Sound understanding of regulations governing special education.
