Job Overview
The Material Management Assistant supports inventory control, supports packaging material coordination, and cold chain compliance. This role ensures the timely availability of packaging supplies, proper handling of temperature-monitoring materials, and accurate tracking of inventory to support packing, storage, and distribution operations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor inventory levels of packaging materials (clamshells, corrugate boxes, liners, labels, pallets) and ensure availability for production schedules.
- Coordinate ordering and replenishment of materials based on forecast, lead times and seasonal demand.
- Track inbound and outbound shipments of packaging and produce-related materials.
- Verify purchase orders, bills of lading (BOLs) and packing slips for accuracy.
- Assist with temperature logger management.
- Identify and report inventory discrepancies, damages, or quality concerns (e.g., moisture exposure, crushed packaging.
- Support packaging transitions, new item setup, and seasonal program rollouts.
- Maintain packaging product items
- Maintain packaging price lists in the ERP system and Excel.
- Create and process purchase orders, sales orders for customers, vouchers for vendors, and transfer orders between warehouses.
- Perform package inventory reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Review vendor statements for missing or inaccurate invoices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field but not required.
- Familiarity with food safety certifications, but not required.
