Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Ophthalmology A/R team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical billing, coding, and collections, with a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and billing systems.
Duties
- · Must be able to communicate in a professional and productive manner with patients, insurance carriers and other staff members.
- · Posting of patient and insurance payments daily. Balance and report to manager daily.
- · Research and rectify third party claims denials and edits at the clearinghouse and at the carrier level. Edit and provide additional documentation as identified.
- · Identify and analyze open claims.
- · Identify and correct billing errors and resubmit corrected claims to insurance carriers as necessary. The expectation is that the employee will be able to process simple claims issues independently once training is completed and will progress to more complicated appeals with additional training and supervision.
- · Monitor assigned past due accounts for payment
- · Contribute to a cohesive department unit.
- · Maintain organized records of all billing transactions and communications.
- · Resolve billing discrepancies and address patient account inquiries.
- · Additional related tasked as needed to ensure an efficient revenue cycle.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, accounts receivable management, or related roles within a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices including ICD coding standards and procedures for accurate claim submission.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and medical records management tools.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients regarding billing inquiries.
- Ability to analyze complex claims data and resolve issues efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Prior experience in medical office administration or healthcare finance is preferred
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
