Duties
- Assist in enforcing local laws, ordinances, and regulations to promote community safety and order.
- Conduct patrols on foot or in standard police vehicles to monitor public areas, identify potential issues, and deter unlawful activity.
- Support law enforcement officers during ride alongs and community events.
- Respond with certified police officers to calls for service along with emergencies, or disturbances, providing first aid or CPR as needed to stabilize situations.
- Manage traffic control during events or incidents, ensuring safe flow of vehicles and pedestrians while adhering to traffic laws.
- Assist certified police officers with the handling of evidence with care according to evidence law and procedural law standards; assist with investigations when required.
- Engage with the community through conflict management, animal handling, loss prevention initiatives, and promoting awareness of local ordinances and laws.
Qualifications
- Willingness to learn knowledge of law enforcement and criminal procedure.
- Willingness to donate time to the North Baltimore community as needed.
- Willingness to learn surveillance techniques, report writing standards, traffic laws, criminal law experience, and criminal investigation procedures.
- Ability to operate standard police SUV when needed.
- Must have or ability to learn conflict management skills; ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Willingness to learn animal care and handling.
- Prior military experience or security background highly valued; commitment to community service essential.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Willingness to attend training classes as needed.
- Must be able to pass a police background check.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
