Mountain High Appliance | Denver, CO Reports To: Purchasing Manager Job Type: Full-Time | In-Person Pay: $23.00 – $30.00/hr depending on experience

About Mountain High Appliance

Family owned and operated since 1993, Mountain High Appliance is Colorado's most complete appliance source, offering every major appliance line as well as in-house delivery and professional installation. With five showrooms across the state and a best-in-class selection featuring over 250 live appliances across more than 20 inspiring kitchen displays, we've built our reputation on doing things right — before, during, and after the sale.

About the Role

Mountain High Appliance is looking for a sharp, detail-oriented, and motivated individual to join our purchasing team. Whether you're new to the field and eager to learn, or you already have purchasing experience and are ready to step into a more advanced role — we have a path for you.

This is not a passive data entry position. You'll be working at the intersection of inventory, vendor relationships, sales support, and operations — managing purchase orders, tracking shipments, analyzing data, and helping ensure that the right products are in the right place at the right time. It's a role that requires someone who can hold a lot of context simultaneously, make sound judgment calls, and work confidently across multiple systems.

Think of it less like a job and more like an investment in your growth. We invest in you — you grow with us.

The Path Forward

Purchasing Specialist → Associate Buyer → Buyer

Entry-level candidates will follow a structured training track with increasing responsibility over time, with a clear path toward a full Buyer role. Experienced candidates may step into the Associate Buyer level from day one based on their background.

Upon completing the training program, team members will have developed a deep, hands-on understanding of purchasing operations that builds a strong foundation for a long-term career in buying and supply chain.

What You'll Do

As you learn and grow, your responsibilities will include:

  • Process and manage purchase orders across multiple vendors — including import/export workflows and vendor portal submissions
  • Monitor inventory availability and investigate discrepancies to determine true stock levels before placing orders
  • Track vendor shipments and proactively follow up on lost, delayed, or backordered loads
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team to verify physical inventory counts and resolve discrepancies
  • Compile and distribute exception reports to the sales and scheduling teams when products won't arrive in time for customer deliveries
  • Coordinate with the sales team to ensure inventory is allocated accurately and orders are fulfilled on time
  • Use VLOOKUPs and Excel-based tools to pull vendor ETAs, match open order reports, and maintain accuracy across large data sets
  • Review purchase order pricing to ensure alignment with company standards — and take corrective action when pricing decisions affect the bottom line
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships through consistent, professional communication
  • Work toward managing your own product categories as skills and trust develop

What We're Looking For

For all candidates:

  • Strong attention to detail — you catch the small stuff before it becomes a big problem
  • Comfortable working with data and willing to learn new systems quickly
  • Clear, professional communication skills — written and verbal
  • A team player who asks questions, communicates proactively, and doesn't wait to be told something is wrong
  • Hungry to grow — this role has a clear upward path for the right person

Entry-Level Candidates

  • Genuine interest in business, logistics, purchasing, or operations
  • Basic Excel comfort —you're willing to build on what you know
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • A degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is a plus — but hustle and curiosity matter more
  • Experience in a fast-paced office, operations, or data-driven environment is a plus

Experienced Candidates

  • Prior experience in purchasing, buying, inventory management, or a related operations role
  • Advanced Excel skills — VLOOKUPs, large data sets, formula building, and data cleaning are part of your toolkit
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or a similar ERP system strongly preferred
  • Understanding of purchase orders, vendor management, and inventory availability concepts
  • Basic understanding of pricing and profitability helpful
  • Ready to take on responsibility from day one while getting up to speed on our specific systems and processes

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily sedentary office work involving sitting at a workstation
  • Occasional light lifting of up to 20 pounds

What We Offer

  • Pay:$23.00 – $35.00/hr depending on experience
  • 401(k) with company matching
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Flexible spending account
  • Paid time off
  • Employee discount
