About the Role

NAVBB is seeking a driven, relationship-oriented professional to join our team as a Community Partnerships & Donor Recruitment Specialist. This is a highly independent, field-based role ideal for someone who enjoys building meaningful partnerships, managing their own territory, and representing an organization within the community.

In this position, you will spend the majority of your time visiting dog daycares, boarding facilities, and partner locations to educate dog owners about canine blood donation and recruit eligible dogs into our donor program.

Success in this role requires professionalism, initiative, and the ability to build trust quickly in face-to-face environments. The ideal candidate is motivated by working toward measurable goals and takes pride in building strong community partnerships.

Work Environment

This is an in-person, field-based position. Work takes place either at partner locations throughout the assigned territory or at the NAVBB office in Manassas. This role does not operate as a work-from-home position.

Most days will be spent conducting outreach in the field, with regular time in the office for coordination, planning, and reporting.

Schedule Expectations

This role requires flexibility to align with partner and dog-owner schedules.

  • Regular evening availability is required (typically until approximately 6:30 PM)
  • Work hours may vary throughout the week based on outreach schedules and territory needs
  • Daily schedules are managed independently based on assigned territory priorities

This is a client-facing outreach role. It is not a marketing, social media, or content creation position. Performance is evaluated based on operational impact, partner engagement, and donor recruitment outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Travel regularly to dog daycares, boarding facilities, and partner locations within your assigned territory (1.5 hour driving radius from office)
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with partner staff, managers, and owners
  • Represent NAVBB during outreach and donor recruitment activities
  • Educate dog owners on canine blood donation, eligibility requirements, and the donation process
  • Recruit and enroll eligible dogs into the donor program while ensuring a positive and pressure-free experience
  • Manage a dynamic daily schedule with minimal supervision
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships and increase donor participation
  • Accurately track outreach activity, partner engagement, and donor enrollment metrics
  • Use performance data to continuously improve outreach effectiveness
  • Consistently meet or exceed defined recruitment and engagement targets

This Role Is a Good Fit If You

  • Enjoy building professional relationships and representing an organization in the community
  • Are comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule
  • Take ownership of performance goals and enjoy working toward measurable outcomes
  • Prefer a dynamic work environment that involves travel and face-to-face engagement rather than desk-based work
  • Are energized by meeting new people and building trust quickly
  • Enjoy working around dogs and interacting with pet owners in dog-focused environments

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
  • Willingness to drive regularly within the assigned region
  • Ability to manage time, travel, and follow-up independently
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Comfortable spending a large portion of the day driving between partner locations and conducting outreach in the field

Preferred Experience

  • Territory management, community outreach, or partnership development
  • Veterinary, animal care, nonprofit, or pet industry experience
  • Client-facing roles that require relationship building and independent work
  • Experience representing an organization externally
  • Comfortable using CRM systems or mobile reporting tools

Performance & Accountability

Success in this role is evaluated based on partner engagement, measurable donor enrollment growth, and effective territory management.

This role requires comfort working toward defined goals and performance metrics, with accountability for delivering measurable outcomes.

Why This Role Matters
