What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution Supervisor position at North American Mechanical, Inc.?
Responsibilities
- Learn the receiving function and ultimately, coordinate the day-to-day duties of this area, including updating any documentation on receiving processes as necessary.
- Learn how to job pile material and when material is stored on site, in trailers or at an off-site warehouse.
- Learn NAMI’s safety culture and become part of the safety team that meets monthly.
- Learn the return process for material that is returned from jobsites. Help to update the documentation of this process.
- Learn how NAMI’s inventory system works, both stock and non-stock, ordering stock material, and help with setting up and running the annual inventory.
- Help develop a cycle count program.
- Work with the Tools group to learn the tracking system, how to check tools in and out, determine where tools are sent for repair or just replacing them, and keep up the 5S system for this area.
- Work with the Fleet Coordinator to learn how vehicles and equipment are tracked, who we use for maintenance and why, reviewing and logging daily truck inspection reports, and how to create the mileage/condition reports needed quarterly. Also, learn DOT reports that are required.
- Learn the NAMI process for scheduling job deliveries, how to log and process order requests, and coordinating with NAMI drivers.
- Work with drivers to learn the process for loading trucks.
- Learn the process for shipping UPS, FedEx and LTL shipments.
- Learn the process for pulling material from stock, non-stock and job piles and where to stage for shipment or pick up.
- Learn the responsibilities distribution has for building maintenance and cleaning along with yard cleaning, organization, snowplowing, lot striping/repair, etc.
- Learn the process for planning capital expenditures.
- Learn how to process employee timecards.
- Learn employee review process.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor.
