The North Adams Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Director of Student Support Services.

Description
Job Goal: To assist the Director of Student Support Services in the general organization and administration of all Student Support Services in the North Adams Public Schools. This is a full year, district-level role, prioritizing coordination of PreK special education, CPPI partnerships, along with Pre-K-adult related services, and the implementation of Student Support Services programming across the district.
Supervision: Reports to the Director of Student Support Services.
Education, Work Experience and Licensure:
a. Massachusetts certification as Administrator of Special Education
b. Master’s Degree
c. Demonstrated leadership ability in school administration, program evaluation, staff development and staff supervision and evaluation.
Performance Responsibilities:

To oversee therapeutic and other Special Education and Related Services as assigned by the Director.

Recommend and assist in the recruitment, appointment, evaluation, and supervision of Student Support Services staff as assigned by the Director.

Design, implement, and monitor professional development for Student Support Services staff and general education staff.

Coordinate Early Childhood (PreK) special education referrals, collaborate with community partners, manage Child Find, and lead partnership grant implementation (CPPI, etc.).

Coordinate and oversee the programs for students including but not limited to the chairing of IEP meetings, program and student monitoring, development of the IEP and coordination of student evaluations as assigned by the Director.

Regularly visit school and district programs and monitor implementation of student support services.

Evaluate, modify and develop special education programs to meet the needs of students.

Collaborate with district and school administrators on budget planning and resource allocation for Student Support Services.

Assist the director to monitor expenditures, complete reports, and write proposals for grant funding for special education programs including federal and state entitlement grants and competitive grants when appropriate.

Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., IDEA, Massachusetts Special Education regulations, DESE monitoring, etc.), as well as alignment with district priorities and student needs.

Prepare data reports, including state and federal reports in all areas of special education as assigned by the Director.

Promote collaboration with local, regional, state and private agencies and resources that support students and their families.

Maintain positive relationships with families and community members and clearly communicate school, district, and program priorities and updates regularly.

Maintain current knowledge of best practices, laws, and regulations related to student services, including special education.

Serve on committees and attend meetings as assigned by the Director.

Serves as a member of the district teams as assigned by the Director.

Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated yearly by the Director of Student Support Services
Physical Requirements: The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing and pulling of objects. The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally. There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.
Environmental Conditions: The occupant is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents are toners, inks, and cleaning fluid
Salary : $100,000 - $112,000
