Custodian - Norris Middle School

Norris Middle School is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and self-motivated individual to serve as a Custodian. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will take pride in the appearance and upkeep of the school while working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, cafeterias, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize assigned areas daily
• Empty trash and recycling containers
• Assist with setup and cleanup for school events and activities
• Monitor and restock custodial and restroom supplies
• Perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned
• Assist with floor care, including waxing and buffing
• Help maintain building security by ensuring doors and gates are properly secured
• Report maintenance concerns or safety hazards promptly
• Work collaboratively with school staff to support daily operations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous custodial or maintenance experience preferred, but not required
• Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and supplies as needed
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Positive attitude and willingness to support the school community
