We are looking for an onsite medical biller to join our business office team. As a member of our team you play a key role in ensuring that patient accounts are handled efficiently, insurance claims are processed correctly, and payments are collected in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medical Coding: Accurately assign appropriate. CPT, and HCPCS codes to medical procedures and diagnosis based on patient records, physician documentation, and treatment plans.
- Billing and Insurance Claims: Prepare and submit insurance claims for payment, ensuring accurate coding and billing for services rendered. Follow up on denied or rejected claims, ensuring that any issues are resolved promptly and appropriately.
- Payment Processing and Account Management: Post payments received from insurance companies and patients, reconciling patient accounts and ensuring that balances are accurate. Work with patients and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies and outstanding balances.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all coding and billing practices comply with relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and insurance industry standards. Maintain accurate documentation for all coding and billing activities.
- Patient Communication: Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries, outstanding balances, insurance coverage, and payment options. Provide clear explanations of charges and assist in resolving and billing concerns.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain organized and accurate records of all patient billing information, insurance claims, payments, and correspondence. Ensure that records are updated and stored in accordance with clinic policies and regulations.
- Claim Follow-up: Monitor and follow up on unpaid or delayed claims, working with insurance companies to resolve any issues and ensure timely reimbursement. Prepare reports on the status of claims and outstanding balances.
