What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pastry Cook position at Norman Love Confections?
Norman Love Confections is looking to hire a Full-Time Pastry Cook. Starting wage is $16.00/hour based on experience.
The Pastry Cook reports to the Assistant Pastry Chef. The Assistant Pastry Chef will delegate jobs for the day. Daily jobs will vary depending on production needs. Duties can include but are not limited to scaling, mixing, baking, glazing, decorating, and storing as related to the production of pastry goods.

Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- The overall goal is to maintain high-quality products and consistency as per the company standards.
Sales & Financial:
- To ensure proper use and operation of machines to minimize repairs.
- Ensure that production is completed efficiently and correctly to avoid waste.
Business Operations:
- Understands jobs delegated for each day.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness standards throughout the pastry shop.
- Responsible for following FIFO inventory management.
- Responsible for reporting accurate production and dispatch of all pastry items.
- Effectively communicates all equipment issues.
Training & Development:
- Knowledge of the food service industry and safe food handling practices.
- Strong Work Ethic.
- Ability to always maintain a clean work environment.
- Be a Team player and work well as a team and under pressure.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Must be able to multitask and always be aware of surroundings.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes.
Schedule Expectations:
Pastry Cook should arrive at 8:00 AM and finish by 4:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break. We are a 7 day a week operation, with weekend shifts.
Requirements:The following are essential functions of the job and must be met in order to safely complete the tasks associated with this position.
- The ability to communicate in English (written and verbal).
- The ability to stand for up to eight hours per day.
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to bend, lift, push, pull and climb.
