Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Customs Brokerage Compliance professional to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring that all customs processes comply with relevant regulations, facilitating smooth logistics operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, transportation sales, and familiarity with customs regulations, and partner government agencies.
Duties
- Ensure compliance with all customs brokerage regulations and procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Partner Government Agencies regulations and other relevant compliance requirements.
- Assist in training team members on customs compliance policies and procedures.
- Monitor shipments to ensure timely delivery while adhering to all regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and government agencies regarding customs issues.
- Daily auditing to identify shipments without a release, high duty-entries, paper required, census warnings, entry summary errors/reject status.
- Daily ACH statement payment processing.
- HTS classification on behalf of clients.
- USMCA analysis on behalf of clients.
- CF28 / CF29 CBP Requests for Information & Notices of Action, receipt and follow-up to ensure timely response.
- Reconciliation filing on behalf of participating clients.
- Post summary corrections, protests, 520Ds.
- Liquidated damages notices, receipt and follow-up in order to close out accordingly via timely payments when applicable.
- New account on-boarding processing and Organization set-up in cargowise.
- CTB new bond requests, renewals, and billing.
- ACH debit account setup on behalf of new clients.
- Marking waiver requests and renewals on behalf of clients.
- Respond to CBP phone calls, emails, inquiries, requests for documents, etc.
- Respond to customer inquiries on any compliance issue.
- Entry review and corrections.
- Assist the staff with any questions/issues on entry data, entry rejections, provisional tariffs, free-trade agreements, special provision HTS codes, PGA date entry, etc.
- Daily receipt and review of CSMS notifications, sharing with staff when deemed necessary.
- Client email distribution with important Customs announcements and publications.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in logistics or customs brokerage compliance is preferred.
- Familiarity with Cargowise or similar systems is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills to assess compliance risks and develop solutions.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
