Position Overview

Lead the sustained effort to locate and qualify best-in-class suppliers in support of procurement activities to develop an exceptional supply chain that is flexible and resilient to a volatile and fluctuating purchasing environment. Functioning in the framework of Norican Group North America, drive the outsourcing strategy to improve overall performance of the contract manufacturing supply base. Team with North American procurement groups to assess supply chain vulnerabilities and plan and implement counter measures to assure continuity in the performance of the supply chain. Will work directly with the global procurement team to address shortages and communicate Norican Group North American policies, strategies, commodity volatility and general supply chain instabilities. Will be the resident expert on placing castings into foundries. An extensive knowledge of foundry operations is crucial for this position. Will also source fabrications, machining services, various outside services i.e., heat treating, polyurethane coatings, etc. Consolidate spend for all LOB’s across the region and integrate globally where performance improvement dictates. Teams with supply chain managers to drive the supplier approval process.

Job Functions

• Lead sourcing initiatives to identify new sources of supply for finished goods, raw materials, and components.
• Proactively seek out and establish suppliers and strategic alliances that will provide a stable long-term relationship.
• Ability to manage supplier relationships; complete supplier approval process; visit as required, a thorough understanding of the supplier’s abilities and constraints.
• Monitoring of expenditures, compliance, supply market dynamics and supplier performance in specific categories
• Negotiate with suppliers on cost reductions, reduction in lead-time, and overall improvement in quality.
• Implementation and further development of the contract manufacturing sourcing strategy in North America in collaboration with Engineering, Supply Chain, Purchasing.
• Negotiations with potential sources and determine most competitive solutions using a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
• Maintaining & Updating supplier documentation and contract information, purchase agreement negotiation
• Develop appropriate costing models,
• Ability to review and negotiate contracts in the best interest of Wheelabrator.
• Ability to read drawings, BOM’s and part specifications.
• Ability to generate and communicate forecast to key suppliers.
• Research and recommend substitute or alternative items or supply.
• Adhere to company ISO documentation requirements.
  
  

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree (four-year college or university) with emphasis in Business or related filed preferred or equivalent experience in a purchasing/sourcing or equivalent position within last 5 years

• Five years directly relating to purchasing and cost estimating experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Advanced Excel and data analysis skills. Dynamics AX or similar ERP system previous experience.
• Active CPM or CPIM, CSPC or related certification preferred
