Part-Time and Temporary
General Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the clerical operation of schools, requiring frequent contacts with employees and students, internal and external stakeholders, area business leaders, and community partners; to include the handling of unusually difficult, complex, and confidential matters within the department or school division.
Education and Experience
Requires a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), training as a bus driver, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the above knowledge, skill, and abilities.
Essential Job Functions
- Serves as secretary and administrative assistant for clerical staff.
- Responsible for the clerical operation at various schools.
- Handles difficult, complex, and confidential matters.
- Thorough knowledge of clerical functions, modern office terminology, procedures, and equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of the organization and functions of the school system, including established procedures and practices of the department to which assigned.
- Thorough knowledge of computer and personal communications device functions, including the hardware and software applications of the office to which assigned.
- Ability to manage clerical and administrative support activities, supervise and manage activities and staff of a major school system department office.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and accurately, both orally and in writing; to write clear, concise, error-free reports; to organize and deliver presentations to small and large groups and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated competency in technology.
- Demonstrated competency in budgetary programs and bookkeeping.
- Ability to attend meetings off-site as needed with supervisor and to run errands as needed for departmental tasks.
- Ability to make relatively complex mathematical computations rapidly and accurately.
- Reports violations of state school bus law (other drivers) as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Former NPS employees with 5 years of NPS clerical experience are eligible for an hourly rate of $18.00.
