Job Summary The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for all facility activities on the East Providence, Rhode Island facility. These activities include maintaining all buildings and grounds, utilities, HVAC, interior and exterior repair, cleaning, landscape, production equipment and capital improvement projects for 300,000 square foot facility . This individual will also assist in the design, layout and upgrade of production, lab and office areas. The Facilities Supervisor will have responsibility to manage maintenance/ facility technician and EFD Kitchen, along with managing all contractor activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES Have working experience with safety codes, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, EPA and OBBC. Be an active member and resource to the safety committee. Maintain a safe work environment. Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify and resolve issues Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs Plan and maintain departmental budgets, develop and execute capital and cost savings projects. Evaluate utilities usages to improve energy efficiencies on campus and drive future capital improvements. Design & layout office and manufacturing spaces as necessary. Be familiar with the operation and maintenance of building equipment. Must handle the specification, procurement, and maintenance of HVAC, compressed air, sprinkler system, electrical distribution systems, security systems, and water and sewer systems. Direct the maintenance and repair of production and support equipment Supervise the maintenance of the campus landscape including the plowing and salting of parking lots and walks, as necessary, to maintain safe conditions during winter months. Manage and develop staff members to improve team effectiveness. Investigate, recommend, and implement cost savings projects. Support manufacturing departments in meeting on-time delivery performance. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Applicant should be reliable, have strong communication skills and the ability to work with people in difficult situations. The candidate will need to be committed and be willing to work flexible hours, multi-task and do “whatever it takes to get the job done”. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, mechanical or electrical preferred, PE preferred; or without degree, 8 years of previous maintenance or non-residential construction type. Minimum of 3-5 years previous supervisory experience is required. Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably a lean manufacturing environment. Minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance or construction type of position SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to motivate others. Purchasing and utilities contract negotiating experience. Proficient at AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent work ethic. Experience working with construction trades. Experience with all aspects of building maintenance, i.e., cleaning, painting, roof maintenance / repairs and building upgrade projects. Project management skills. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Individual is on-call to handle emergency issues. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
