We are seeking a highly skilled Database Developer to support the modernization, optimization, and evolution of our data ecosystem as we transition from legacy architectures to a cloud-optimized, scalable Azure data platform.
About the Role
This role enables improved database performance, stability, and scalability, reduced storage cost via data lifecycle management, faster modernization of .NET applications and services, a stronger foundation for the Next Gen DWH, and alignment between application and data architectures in Azure.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize database objects in SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Cosmos DB
- Refactor and modernize legacy SQL patterns to improve performance and maintainability
- Implement indexing strategies, query tuning, and execution plan optimization
- Partner with application developers to ensure efficient, scalable data models
- Contribute to re-architecture of legacy structures, including very large tables
- Support platform rationalization and consolidation into the Next Gen DWH
- Help establish database modernization standards and patterns
- Implement data pruning, archiving, and lifecycle strategies
- Build automated archival and retrieval workflows
- Collaborate with DevOps to enable CI/CD automation for database deployments
- Build schema migration packages and database deployment scripts
- Support data integration with containerized and cloud-native applications
- Use AI-assisted development tools for optimization and schema design
- Contribute to automated and AI-powered data validation and regression testing
- Support intelligent observability and anomaly detection for database performance
- Work closely with architects, developers, and BI teams
- Participate in sprint planning and design reviews
- Serve as SME for SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Cosmos DB
Qualifications
- 5 years of SQL Server and Azure SQL/MI development experience
- Strong proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, query tuning, and index design
- Experience with Cosmos DB or similar NoSQL stores
- Proven experience optimizing high-volume transactional systems
- Familiarity with cloud migrations and application modernization
- Experience with data pruning and archival strategies
- Experience with AI-assisted developer tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Clear communication for technical and non-technical audiences
- Highly collaborative and comfortable in agile teams
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality

Preferred Skills
- Experience with Azure PaaS services (MI, Storage, Redis, Data Factory)
