Operations Crew Members are responsible for safely identifying, sorting, and processing ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The role includes operating equipment such as a metal shredder, skid steers and forklifts as well as handling recycling materials. Clear communication with scale staff and team members is essential for efficient and safe operations. This is a physically active position with voluntary overtime opportunities for dependable, safety-minded individuals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Follow all workplace safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies.
· Stay aware of surroundings at all times.
· Shred, handle and move metal materials.
· Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Sorting metals according to type, grade, and quality standards.
· Runing a forklift and skid steer.
· Assist in loading and unloading materials for processing or shipment.
· Communicates via radio often with scale staff about vehicles that have dropped certain commodities off, and any deducts from the loads before the customer is paid out.
· Draining and prepping cars.
· Communicate via radio with multiple people frequently about safety and any other appropriate radio communication to ensure an efficient work environment.
· Safely and respectfully and carefully assisting customers when getting unloaded.
· Cleaning and maintaining yard.
· Notifying the appropriate people of any issues or equipment needs.
· Cross-train on responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma preferred.
1-2 years forklift and skid steer experience, certification is a plus.
1-3 years' experience within our industry or closely related industry preferred.
Excellent open communication style to carry out ongoing dialogues in a way that creates trust and confidence within all levels of the company.
