Job Overview

Project Engineer

Nordic Industries, Inc. is seeking a qualified Project Engineer to support our project management, estimating, and field operations teams. Nordic Industries is a heavy civil contractor performing projects throughout California and the surrounding states.

The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, and Superintendents to support the successful planning and execution of assigned projects.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience
  • Previous heavy civil construction experience is preferred but not required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Record project details and maintain current project information within document-control and site-management systems
  • Support project activities in both field and office environments
  • Review plans and specifications for conflicts, discrepancies, dimensions, and elevations
  • Prepare and process submittals, samples, and other project documentation
  • Assist with project quality-control requirements
  • Organize and maintain project files and document-control records
  • Attend progress, safety, site-coordination, and other project meetings
  • Verify that material and equipment deliveries comply with approved submittals, specifications, and shop drawings
  • Track and inventory project materials
  • Research the procurement of materials and equipment during both pre-bid and post-award phases
  • Maintain drawing catalogs, plan sets, and shop-drawing files
  • Perform quantity and material takeoffs
  • Assist with project estimating and bid preparation
  • Collect and report equipment and labor production rates
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining company safety requirements
  • Assist Project Managers with project billings and supporting documentation
  • Perform other project-related duties as assigned

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with AGTEK, Trimble, and/or CAD software is preferred but not required
  • Ability to review and process shop drawings
  • Experience processing submittals and maintaining submittal logs
  • Experience creating and maintaining project schedules using Primavera P6 is preferred but not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and owners
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary Range: $70,000–$95,000 per year

The salary range shown reflects the range Nordic Industries reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the candidate’s qualifications, education, training, experience, position responsibilities, and other job-related factors.
