Job Title: MRI Technologist
Job Type: Casual
Varied Hours: flexible hours anywhere between 6:30am-10pm for Bloomington/Blaine, and 6:30am-5:30pm for Lake Elmo.
Location: Bloomington, Blaine, and Lake Elmo
Reports to: Radiology/Imaging Supervisor
Position Description:
This is a casual position working flexible hours across our three clinics, to both cover PTO for the department and just have extra coverage. We can work with your schedule.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Research scheduled exams in EMR for clarification of order when orders are either incomplete or ambiguous.
- Perform all routine MRI procedures and views according to department procedure manual.
- Review MRI studies for proper image quality and identification.
- Ensure optimal image quality of anatomy and pathology.
- Prepare and/or administer IV contrast medium.
- Consult with radiologist and/or physicians regarding examinations as necessary.
- Review sterile technique and prevent cross contamination to patients and instruments.
- Organize, plan, and direct activities relating to patient procedures for MRI area to maximize patient throughput.
Other Accountabilities:
- Ensure protocols correspond to clinical indications and provide recommendations.
- Identify equipment and operational problems and communicate to immediate supervisor.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks and quality control tests, record, and report results to supervisor.
- Prepare and maintain room supplies as well as restocking assigned workstation.
Knowledge and skills required:
- Technical and professional expertise in the radiologic sciences and magnetic resonance imaging

- Static magnetic field effects
- Radio frequency effects/RF burns
- Gradient field effects
- Patient screening
- Contradictions of MRI imaging
- Knowledge of pharmacology and dosage of contrast agents
- Ability to recognize and initiate treatment for adverse reactions.
- Knowledge of proper patient transfer mechanics.
- Knowledge of equipment emergency protocols.
- Holds problem solving skills as well as efficient time management skills.
- Must possess the ability to remain calm during difficult situations with patients and medical emergencies.
Requirements:
- Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
- ARRT board certified. ARRT registered Radiologic Technologist
- ARRT board certification in Advanced Level Examinations in Radiologic Technology or equipment expertise
- BLS and CPR certification
- 2 years of MRI experience
