Computer Aided Design Drafter

CAD Drafter - Geotechnical or Structural Engineering

A well-established geotechnical and structural engineering consultancy in the NYC metro area is seeking a CAD Drafter to support a growing portfolio of complex foundation, excavation, and infrastructure projects.

This position offers the opportunity to work alongside highly technical engineering teams on challenging urban projects involving deep foundations, support of excavation systems, underpinning, structural support elements, and large-scale construction coordination throughout New York City.

The ideal candidate will come from a structural, geotechnical, or heavy civil background and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment where accuracy, responsiveness, and technical understanding are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise detailed engineering drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit
• Support geotechnical and structural engineers with plans, sections, details, layouts, and drafting coordination
• Produce drawings related to deep foundations, support of excavation systems, underpinning, retaining structures, and structural framing
• Interpret engineering markups, sketches, calculations, and redlines to prepare accurate documentation
• Coordinate drawings with engineers, architects, contractors, and project teams
• Assist with revisions and updates during active construction phases
• Maintain drafting quality standards and project documentation consistency
• Support preparation of permit and construction drawing packages

Required Qualifications

• 2-5 years of CAD drafting experience in structural, geotechnical, civil, or heavy construction environments
• Strong AutoCAD experience required
• Revit experience strongly preferred
• MicroStation experience is beneficial but not required
• Understanding of structural and foundation systems including concrete, steel, and excavation support elements
• Ability to work from rough sketches and engineering markups with minimal oversight
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple active projects

Preferred Background

• Experience supporting geotechnical engineering or foundation construction projects
• Familiarity with NYC construction and infrastructure environments
• Exposure to support of excavation (SOE), piles, caissons, underpinning, or temporary works drafting
• Comfortable collaborating directly with technical engineering staff and field teams

Compensation will be in the range of $75 000 - $100 000 depending on experience.
