Status: Full-time, Exempt 40 hours/week primarily on-site
Location: Tualatin Valley, Oregon
Salary: $103,000-$110,000/year plus benefits
About Family Promise of Tualatin Valley
Family Promise of Tualatin Valley (FPTV) equips families experiencing homelessness to achieve stability through shelter, case management, and wrap-around support. We partner with local governments, congregations, businesses, and community members to ensure every family has a safe place to call home.
FPTV is entering an exciting period of growth. With expanded shelter capacity, new partnerships, and a strong foundation of public funding, we are now building our philanthropic program that will sustain this work for the long term.
The Opportunity
FPTV is investing in its first Development Director to build and lead a growing development program from the ground up. The Development Director will serve as both strategist and hands-on fundraiser, designing systems, cultivating donors, and establishing a culture of philanthropy across the organization.
The Director will join the leadership team, oversee all private fundraising activities, and partner with the Executive Director to build a development team to move our philanthropic programs forward.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy to expand individual, corporate, and foundation support.
- Lead the creation of systems, processes, and metrics to strengthen development operations and ensure accountability.
- Partner with the Executive Director and Board to: Set annual revenue goals and design campaigns that advance FPTV’s mission and growth; Engage consultants or contractors for specialized support (e.g., grant writing, campaigns, and design); Create a positive, accountable, and mission-aligned team culture that reflects FPTV’s values of kindness, dignity, stewardship, and empowerment.
Individual and Major Giving
- Design and execute an integrated individual giving program spanning annual, mid-level, and major donors.
- Personally manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, cultivating relationships that lead to sustained and increased giving.
- Support the Executive Director, Board, and volunteers in donor engagement, equipping them with strategy and tools and managing follow-up.
- Develop compelling cases for support, proposals, and donor communications.
Corporate and Foundation Relations
- Strengthen and grow relationships with corporate partners and private foundations.
- Prepare sponsorship packages and grant proposals (non-governmental) in collaboration with leadership and program staff.
- Oversee fulfillment and stewardship of sponsorship benefits and commitments.
Events and Community Engagement
- Lead the planning and execution of FPTV’s fundraising events, including Eat, Drink & Be Giving, ensuring strong revenue results and donor experience.
- Represent FPTV at community events, speaking engagements, and donor meetings to raise visibility and engagement.
- Create communications supporting events, development and donor relations.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in nonprofit development, with demonstrated success in individual and major gifts.
- Proven ability to design and execute fundraising strategies that drive revenue growth.
- Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and storytelling skills.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to balance strategic leadership and hands-on execution.
- Experience mentoring staff and engaging board members and volunteers in fundraising.
- Proficiency with CRM and donor databases (e.g., DonorPerfect, Bloomerang, Salesforce, or equivalent).

Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position primarily operates in a professional office environment with flexibility for hybrid work. It requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. Occasional lifting of materials up to 30 pounds may be required. Some evening and weekend hours are necessary to support fundraising events, donor meetings, and community activities.
