The Volunteer Coordinator facilitates JVS’s comprehensive volunteer program, including recruitment, onboarding, training, tracking and database management, recognition, and communication. The Volunteer Coordinator also implements JVS’ community outreach efforts.

Supervision
- Supervises volunteer interns as appropriate
- Serves as primary point of contact for all volunteers
- Work with program staff to regularly assess new and ongoing volunteer needs and roles
- Work with program staff to engage current and former JVS clients as volunteers
- Continually recruit volunteers to meet the needs of the organization
- Facilitate the volunteer application and screening process, including conducting interviews and background
- screenings where necessary.
- Coordinate orientation sessions and training programs to familiarize volunteers with our organization's
- mission, values, and policies.
- Provide ongoing support and resources to volunteers, ensuring they feel comfortable and confident in their roles.
- Work with Chief Philanthropy Officer to implement strategies to boost volunteer engagement rates and
- foster a positive volunteer experience.
- Organize appreciation events and recognition programs to celebrate volunteers' contributions and
- dedication.
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers to address their concerns, collect feedback, and recognize
- outstanding efforts
- Develop and draft monthly content for the Volunteer Voice newsletter
- Actively seek out opportunities and attend community outreach events, in line with annual goals
- Coordinate, route and track inquiries from external entities seeking to learn more about JVS
- Provide regular reporting to JVS leadership around outreach metrics
- Ensure that accurate volunteer records are maintained, including applications, risk management
- documentation, contact details, hours served, and volunteer preferences.
- Utilize volunteer management software to streamline recruitment and communication processes
- Ensure that volunteer dashboards are up-to-date
- Ensure accuracy of regular reports on volunteer engagement, including recruitment statistics, retention rates,
- and volunteer impact on organizational goals.
- Collaborate with the management team to evaluate the effectiveness of volunteer programs and make
- data-driven improvements.
Qualifications
- Combination or education and experience normally represented by a Bachelor's Degree in social work, human service field and/or volunteer management required. Minimum combined 1-3 years working with immigrant populations and/or vulnerable populations required.
- Previous experience working with refugees is strongly desired.
- Supervision experience required. Previous experience managing volunteers preferred.
- Position requires use of personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement. Valid driver’s license, insurance, and clean driving record is required.
- Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
- Must be customer-service focused
- Must possess strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multilingual environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (including evenings and weekends when necessary)
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, CRMs, and internet-based communication
