Growing company is seeking a Architectural Designer Level II that will be responsible for leading and executing significant technical and design aspects of assigned architectural projects, typically large and complex multifamily developments. This role requires the independent application of advanced architectural concepts, with direct responsibility for the quality, accuracy, and coordination of the instruments of service throughout the entire project lifecycle.
This person will participate in conceptual design and provides full support through project completion, serving as a key technical contributor and design leader within the project team. While working collaboratively, this position is heavily relied upon to investigate, evaluate, and recommend design solutions that best meet client objectives, regulatory requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Participate in and prepare Conceptual Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, and Construction Administration phases.
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with consultants, contractors, owners, and internal team members.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of building codes, laws, and permitting processes particularly for multifamily projects in Texas ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulations and jurisdictional requirements.
• Maintain ongoing compliance with applicable codes, zoning regulations, and regulatory approvals throughout all project phases.
• Maintain firm-wide multifamily design standards, with a focus on innovation, placemaking, and resident experience.
• Demonstrate deep expertise in multifamily housing typologies, including mid-rise, high-rise, and mixed-use developments.
• Independently apply advanced architectural concepts and design principles to develop technically sound, well-coordinated solutions.
• Investigate, evaluate, and recommend design alternatives that align with client needs, project constraints, budgets, and performance goals.
• Utilize BIM technologies, including Revit, to develop and coordinate three-dimensional building models.
• Establish documentation strategies, including defining sheet organization, file structures, and BIM data workflows across project phases.
• Serve as a SME for specialized systems, assemblies, or construction methodologies.
• Demonstrate strong experience coordinating with consultants including structural, MEP, civil, landscape, and specialty disciplines across all project phases, with a solid technical understanding of these systems and their integration into the architectural design.
• Execute complex or novel assignments, including the development of improved techniques, workflows, or documentation procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and production staff.
• Liaise closely with Project Management, senior architects, and external consultants to ensure coordinated project delivery.
• Coordinate with the Director and Department Head on technical solutions, material selections, and product strategies.
• Support construction administration efforts, including RFIs, submittals, field observations, design clarifications, and site reports.
• Ensure compliance with project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and internal procedures.
• Apply critical thinking to analyze problems and evaluate information from multiple sources to develop effective solutions.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure accurate integration of all project requirements.
• Ensure construction detailing conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
Experience:
• Minimum 6 years of architectural experience, including leadership in technical design and team coordination
• Strong portfolio of work in Commercial, Multifamily or Cultural work projects
• Previously have collaborated across project teams during design and construction phases.
• Requisite knowledge and application of accessibility codes, applicable building codes.
• Must possess thorough knowledge of architecture practices with expertise in mid-rise, high-rise and mixed-use residential design, building materials, construction methods, integration of engineering principles, and building codes.
• Detailed understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Lumion, Adobe Suite and other industry-standard design tools
• Proven ability to manage consultant coordination
• Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple priorities
