Role: Director of Finance
Overview:
A large, well-established NYC nonprofit is hiring an Finance Director to act as the #2 to the CFO. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing core finance functions including payroll, AP/AR, budgeting, grants, and audit. You’ll be stepping into a high-impact position helping to manage a complex, high-volume environment and partnering closely with leadership on key decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations across multiple functions
- Manage and mentor a small team while overseeing a broader finance group
- Partner with leadership on financial and operational decisions
- Oversee audits, financial reporting, and compliance
- Interface with external stakeholders including vendors and funders
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a CFO or #2 in finance within a nonprofit or similar environment
- Strong background across accounting, audit, budgeting, and/or grants
- Experience working with NYC agencies (DHS, DOHMH, HRA, etc.)
- Ability to be hands-on in a lean, fast-paced environment
