What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foundry Supervisor position at Non Ferrous Cast Alloys Inc?
Purpose
The Foundry Supervisor will oversee all daily operations of the finishing and shipping areas, ensuring that all policies, procedures and shop cards are strictly followed. The Foundry Supervisor reports to the Plant Manager.
Essential Functions:
· Lead team to meet Safety, Quality, Production and Cost metrics
· Foster the safest environment possible, proactively solving potential safety issues, enforcing all NFCA and MIOSHA rules and regulations, and leading by example
· Supervise four greensand molding lines, and one air-set molding line assuring:
o Tooling is proactively pulled, reviewed, date tags installed, shop cards available, etc.
o Trouble shoot molding issues, requesting assistance if needed.
o Monitor production to assure efficiency is optimized including both output and quality.
o Assure set up with necessary B.O.M. items (filters, screens, cores, pizza oven, etc.)
o Assure all molding lines are clocking in and accurately reporting both production and downtime.
· Supervise Melt Techs and pour-off personnel assuring:
o Shop Cards are being strictly followed, both brass and aluminum personnel.
o Gas levels and chemical analysis are strictly adhered to.
o Monitor production to assure efficiency is optimized including both output and quality
· Quality of product:
o Review hot check results frequently. Make necessary adjustments to optimize quality or stop production if warranted. Request assistance as needed from Rig Shop, Plant Manager, and others as needed.
· Responsible to supervise Team of approximately 13 members. Keep Team aware of daily concerns, quality issues and productivity and goals.
· Manage schedules and labor to produce parts in the most efficient manner and ensure on-time delivery
· Address performance issues or conflicts amongst the team while building a positive working environment
· Overtime to be under weekly review and kept to minimal basis.
· Responsible for monthly inventory of Finishing supplies and materials as directed by Plant Mgr.
· Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit to manage and develop your team.
· Other duties as assigned, including inventory for department.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Previous supervision experience in manufacturing setting
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Strong problem solving and reasoning skills
· Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages and interpret graphs
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while coordinating between management and team members
Education and Experience:
· Previous production supervisor experience
· Some college or 2-4 years of related education and experience
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
· Ability to work in an environment with elevated temperatures and loud noises
· Ability to work in an environment that contains dust and other air particulates
