What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapist Aide/Physical Therapist Assistant - Full time position at NOMS Healthcare?
Job Summary:
As a physical therapy aide, you will work under the direction and supervision of physical therapists and physical therapy assistants. Physical therapy aide will help patients who are recovering from injuries and illnesses regain movement and manage pain.
Essential Functions:
1. Assist patients in preparation for and, as necessary, during and at the conclusion of treatment.
2. Assist patients in the safe practice of activities related to the development of strength and endurance.
3. Perform treatment procedures pre-determined for each patient by and under the supervision of the therapist or PT assistant.
4. Assemble and prepare equipment and accessories in preparation of treatment; disassemble at the conclusion.
5. Transport patients, records, equipment, and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures of NOMS.
6. Prepare, maintain, and clean treatment area; maintain supportive areas.
7. Educate a patient and family members about what to do after treatment.
8. Follow established procedures pertaining to the care of equipment established by NOMS, maintaining good working order.
9. Clean treatment areas and set up therapy equipment.
10. Other duties as assigned
Competencies:
1. Ability to read and comprehend patient information.
2. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education and Work Experience:
1. High school graduation or GED.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
Physical Therapist Aide may spend a lot of time on their feet while working with patients. May be required to lift and move patients or heavy equipment. May need to work in multiple facilities and have to travel from one job to another. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases.
Physical/Mental Demands:
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 20 pounds.
